“We love the quietness of Pringle Bay – it’s so quaint, and the beach is just beautiful. From the minute you drive in on the dirt roads, you feel completely at ease. Our home feels wonderfully secluded and peaceful, and it’s a very short walk down to the beach,” says the owner.

Inside, the open-plan layout encourages easy living. The living, dining and kitchen areas flow naturally into one another, creating a versatile space for both relaxed family moments and entertaining. High ceilings and abundant natural light enhance the sense of openness, while lovely finishes and modern features provide comfort and ease.

“This is a fabulous beach home for entertaining, so we’re often here with a full house of friends. The living area upstairs is very open with wonderful flow, and the colours and textures echo the beautiful scenery you soak up from every window,” the owner adds. “Life here in Pringle is very relaxed. We love braaiing at home on the upstairs deck and listening to the sea, but if we arrive late in the day, we’ll get a pizza from Hanging Rock Kitchen. When we want a night out, we’ll make a booking for dinner at Hook Line & Sinker in the village.”

Quiet luxury

With five bedrooms (four en suite and the fifth with its own private bathroom just across the passage), this home is perfect for clan gatherings or get-togethers with your friends. The bedrooms are designed as private retreats, each offering a quiet space to unwind. Large windows frame views of the dunes and sea, and the master suite leads out to a tranquil small stoep overlooking the fynbos-clad dune.

Rooted in nature’s rhythm

But life outdoors beckons! Pringle Bay itself is a hidden gem along the Cape Whale Coast, renowned for its unspoiled beaches, abundant birdlife and strong sense of community. Its proximity to Cape Town makes it an ideal weekend retreat, yet its serene pace of life encourages longer stays – or even a permanent move.

This home invites you to experience a slower, more intentional way of living. To head off down the beach pathways to collect the tide’s treasures. Perhaps a more energetic jog or a swim in the sea to work up an appetite for brunch, or a dip into the shallow, warmer waters of the Buffels estuary that trickles out into the ocean. The kids will be paddling about on kayaks or rock fishing for crabs.

“We’ve set up a home gym in the garage, so we start every day with a good workout or a run followed by a swim in the sea – it’s so invigorating. After that we’ll spend lazy days on the beach or chilling at home. Pringle Bay has a committed conservation community and there is a wonderful dune restoration project. This means we now stroll down to the sea via the beach path just 10 metres away,” explains the owner. “And if we’re in the mood for a change of scene, we head out to Bass Lake at Betty’s Bay or just a stroll through the fynbos along Koppie Walk.”

When the wind picks up – which it can from time to time – you and your clan can retreat to the courtyard beside the plunge pool. Grab a book and a beverage and hang out in the hammock outside the main bedroom. There’s also the opportunity for some quiet time in the cosy office with a fireplace and comfy seating.
