Inspiration for the sophisticated Hampton’s-style design of The Lake House came from Gavin’s home in New Orleans, and years spent recently in Louisiana. It’s also in keeping with the Cape Cod architectural style of the estate, and extremely well insulated with immaculate finishes. Inside its modest blue-grey walls, it’s infused with colour, Sue’s signature style but patterned wallpapers, herringbone tile detailing and superb design touches were fun to choose together as a team
It’s no surprise that weekends here fast became Thursday-to-Monday long weekends, especially because a state-of-the-art, off-grid system allows remote work from the office with its massive picture-window taking in spectacular water and mountain views. And when friends and family arrive, delicious lunches and pizzas are cooked together while grandchildren have a ball in the garden.
