“Rugged beauty along the mighty Zambezi”

Have you ever dreamed of owning a piece of true wilderness? Not a postcard version, but the real thing – vast, untamed and utterly alive. At Sendeka River Camp, for sale on the Zambezi, that dream could become your reality.

Discover true wilderness

Genuine wilderness destinations are increasingly difficult to find … which is what makes Sendeka River Camp so extraordinary. On the eastern edge of the Lower Zambezi National Park, in the shadow of an escarpment that is largely unexplored, this is a privately owned camp for those who value true remoteness.

This 33-hectare property – which has 445 metres of unspoilt Zambezi River frontage – is cocooned under mature evergreen trees within 300 000 hectares of country that is rough, raw and awe-inspiring. It’s a bush camp that feels both timeless and deeply personal. An equity partnership in this small but perfect riverfront safari camp for sale in Zambia could be your dream come true.

The camp sits just below the breathtaking beauty of the Mupata Gorge and upstream of the confluence of the Luangwa and Zambezi rivers, below which lie the headwaters of Mozambique’s Cabora Bassa Dam. It was love at first sight when the owner first arrived in this area nearly 40 years ago and knew he would stay. Captivated by the wildness, the mountains and the scale of it all, he built not only a camp but a lasting relationship with the local leadership under Chief Mburuma.

Life along the river

Sendeka is a peaceful, personalised place that offers space and silence, while being well equipped and beautifully furnished. Purposefully designed for families and close friends, the camp’s creation has been a family affair – imagined by the owner’s wife and daughters, and brought to life by local artisans using natural, locally sourced materials.

The result is an understated authenticity that feels completely in tune with its surroundings. Four spacious, air-conditioned tents feature en-suite bathrooms, open-air showers and verandahs overlooking the Zambezi and Sendeka rivers. The central bar and dining area flow out to a pool and sundeck with simply spectacular views of the twin rivers and the distant Uzha Mountains.

Power comes from a state-of-the-art solar system backed by a generator – so even in the height of summer, ice and cold beer are guaranteed. While not directly reachable by car, access is easy: an hour by boat from Kulefu airstrip after a short flight from Lusaka, or a four-hour drive from the city followed by a 20-minute boat transfer.

Unscripted nature

Elephants are almost always in the vicinity, leopards are a permanent presence, and lion and buffalo pass through more and more often, along with a variety of plains game including zebra, waterbuck, kudu, bushbuck and impala. Hippos are always in view (and in earshot), while crocodiles can be spotted sunning themselves on sandbanks and islands.

With around 350 bird species recorded, mornings begin to a chorus of lilac-breasted rollers, kingfishers and fish eagles. Game walks are a highlight – a chance to experience Africa on foot, guided by scouts who read the land like a book. For the more adventurous, overnight fly-camps can be arranged or full-day expeditions into the Lower Zambezi National Park by boat and 4×4.

A legacy to protect

Currently available as a 50% acquisition, this safari camp for sale offers enormous potential – whether as a base for tourism, conservation or private use. The owning family hopes to find like-minded custodians who share their passion for preserving the wildlife, protecting the habitat and extending the conservation area in partnership with the authorities, the community and traditional leadership. Their vision is bold yet deeply respectful: to increase patrols, monitor wildlife activity and boost the water supply into the valleys and ravines to the north.

Sendeka is more than a property – it’s a chance to become part of something rare and enduring. This is where adventure and stillness meet, where your legacy could take root beneath the ancient trees of the Zambezi. If you’re looking for a highly personal bush lodge for sale, this Zambezi River camp is a dream come true.
